January 10, 2010

We officially report to Fort Carson January 10, 2010. Phillip is taking 30 days leave time before we have to report. It will be fun!! We will be home for Christmas which will be great. The sad news is we wont be able to make Thanksgiving. Well at least Phillip wont. I'm not sure when I'm leaving here but i think it will be before thanksgiving since Phillip is out of here around December 10. I'm sure they will come take our furniture some time in November too. We are very excited to be back in the states!

America Here We Come!!!

We are moving to America. We couldn't be more excited. Our new duty station is Fort Carson, CO. It will be so nice to leave close to family again. We find out October 1 when we will be leaving. Its not that we don't like living in Germany... Well maybe not. It will just be nice to have neighbors that speak English. There is alot more but i would rather not get into it right now. I will up date when i know more!

Germany is Germany!

Well i have been in Germany for one week exactly. I took the jet lag pretty well. It was much better then last time. Germany is so beautiful in the summer. It is like a whole new world then in the winter. Me and Phillip Have settled in our apartment so nicely. We have a coffee table and an air mattress. We just bought a couch. We were going to buy a bed but sadly enough all three of the beds we wanted were out of stock. They gave us a rain check and said it will be about a month. So here we are sleeping on an air mattress. It was comfortable for about the first few days but now I'm starting to think the floor might be better. There are lots of very scary spiders here. After our first night in our house there was a HUGE one in the living room. It was the biggest spider i have ever seen. I made Phillip kill it. The spider was about as big as my palm with its legs and everything. I couldn't have killed it my self. Later that day when Phillip was at work we had a mouse problem. Phillip keeps telling me it was a mole but I'm not sure really what it was. I would have taken a picture but i was to scared of the thing to think about it. When Phillip came home for lunch i made him chase it out. We haven't had a problem yet so I'm thinking it just got in by accident. The land lord uses our electricity to mow the lawn and in doing so leaves the door wide open. I also found that out on my first day here. Our car is amazing. It has been a really good car so far. Phillip has let me drive it twice. The first time didn't go over so well. I was very upset by the end of it. It had something to do with Phillip telling me not to go off the road several times. I really wasn't going off the road. my husband is just a little touchy about things when it comes to the car. I know how to drive and I'm a great driver it just slips his mind with I'm driving the car. So after that i didn't really want to drive when he was in the car. I love being here with Phillip but i really miss everyone back home. Some days are harder then others and i get really lonely when Phillip is at work... I just need to get a job.Working on that right know.
Anyways i will up load pictures of our house tomorrow!

Wedding Stuff

Well i have been so busy! I finally have my guest sign in book done. The pics are one and everything is finished. I'm very excited for everyone to sign in them . They are so cute. I would put pics on here but i don't have pic of them. Anyways everyone will see them soon enough. I went and got a bustle on my wedding dress. I got a french bustle it is different then an English one. The french one looks great on my dress since i have the ring around the bottom. I also have my jewelry for my wedding it is absolutely beautiful. I just have to get a tiara. I have 6 flowers for my bouquet i just need about 18 more. Me and my mom go to Roberts and just pick one up at a time. They have coupons there for 40% of one item. We both figured if we do that with every flower we will save about $40. Which can be alot in a wedding. We have picked a wedding cake out. It will be a 3 tier cake. The place I'm getting it from is flour girls and dough boys. They make everything from scratch unlike maceys or alberstons (where we were looking before). We also save about $40 on the cake. I think it will be chocolate with a raspberry filling. I am going to do the middle tier vanilla with a strawberry filling just for variety. I started on the invites... I kept putting it off. I wasn't very excited to do 300 invites. My mom and sisters helped which was GREAT! we are about half way done. We still need to do alot but at least we are started. I'm very excited for this wedding. I feel like things are going so smoothly evan though we don't have a date. It helps alot that we are getting married on a Thursday(hopefully the 23 of July). Every place we go to get something is usually very helpful. I just keep hoping and praying everything will work out fine. Phillip is arranging our honeymoon. I'm so proud of him. He is planning everything out so nicely. We are going to the Anniversary Inn. He told me that he is choosing between 2 rooms. They both look really nice. I'm very excited to go there. I haven't every been there before. I have heard it is great. We will only be there for 2-3 days, which is enough. Anyways i will update everyone about wedding stuff. I will try to remember to take pics of everything to put on here. Love you all!

I JUST ABOUT PISSED MY PANTS!!

Work was going great today until one of our patients showed up an hour late and said all the streets where on lock down. At first i thought there was a HUGE accident. I heard a helicopter go over head which is pretty normal with a bad accident because i work right by the hospital. Well a few minutes later i heard it go over again and again and again which is not normal. I go to look out the window where a few coworkers are standing and all i see is 5 police officers standing around a car with a gun on the hood! About three cops just stood there looking at it. I looked at one of my coworkers and asked whats going on. He said some guy went in to a lady's house and SHOT her a few times and he is on the run. It just so happened that the car the gun was on was HIS car and HIS gun he used to shot the lady. Our build was were this guy was sited. Well the entire office was going crazy and kept looking out the windows to see what is going on. I then called my mom(she works 2 blocks away from me). She said her school was on lock down looking for this guy. We then had two cops walk down are hall. They both had very big guns. They asked us if we had seen a white man with blond hair wearing an orange shirt and jeans. No one had seen him thank goodness. They asked us to keep and eye out for him. They soon left after that to go look at different places since our building had been cleared. I only felt a little bit safer after that. When i went to go home about 30 minutes later the cops were gone from our parking lot. I felt very scared as i was walking to my car. But i got in safe and came home safe. When i was going home a cop was at one of the stop signs i have to go through looking in every ones cars. I'm really glad i got home safe and I'm also glad that crazy guy didn't decided to go in to our building and just start shooting every one. I'm still not sure if they caught the guy but i will watch the news tonight to make sure they did. I mean they had the dogs, cars and helicopters they should be able to. I will up date everyone if they did. Just make sure you thank heavenly father every day for every day he gives you!

Elections

Alright so I'm finally back again!!!! things around here have been finally winding down a little bit now that the Iraqi elections are over. so my sergeant and I were out walking around post yesterday and we ran into one of the interpreters and he went on for like 5 minutes about how grateful he was to have us here because this has been the first election were there have been no attacks by terrorists. There wasn't anything it was quiet all day long everyone got to vote and everybody is very grateful for us being here to help them get to this point. Maybe someday in the near future we can leave this country and let them take care of themselves. ANYWAY in other news i have been doing well and am just getting ready to go home and get married. Also i bought another gun for home security purposes and its AWESOME!!...... even though i haven't actually seen it yet in person. i just wanted to share that with everyone because i am very excited about it. so Katherine and i are finally narrowing down our temple and i think its going to be Draper but I'm not 100% sure yet. she has successfully gotten the paper for the invitations and she has made the little sign in book, it looks incredible. Katherine is doing great she bore her testimony in church yesterday and i am sure it was beautiful, i just wish i could have been there to hear it. I have been reading my scriptures and keeping a secret journal that lives in my truck so that one day my children can read all about my fun times in Iraq. alright so i am out of time i got to go to work but i promise i will be on here more regularly. Katherine I Love You!!
Love SGT. Phillip J. C. Scott

Everything is going great!

Well i finally found paper. I got it on the Internet and amazingly it matches! I was actually shocked. You can only tell they are different when they are side by side up close. The best part is we got 500 sheets of paper for $40. That included shipping. It was so awesome! I'm really glad i don't have to worry about that. Me and my mom folded them... it only took about 2 hours to fold 300 invites. The next big thing is the guest book! I have a wonderful aunt who is helping me. Lacy I'm so glad you are. I lack in the creativity area. I will forever be in your debt! I'm very excited to do it. We looked on the Internet about 2 weeks ago and got some great ideas! I'm very excited to see the end result. It will look so great. The list is still so long of things me , my mom and Bonny(mom in law) need to do. We are still looking for some great ideas for the reception. Wedding planning is hard and takes along time. I never realized before how much it actually took. I now know why some people have 2 year long engagements. I'm very glad and blessed that me and Phillip will be getting married in the temple. I would never want it any were else. I love him very much and want to spend forever with him. Thank you everyone for all your love and support. I love you all very much AND cant wait to see everyone again!

I hate paper!

Well i have been trying to find the perfect shade of paper for mine and Phillips invites. A few months ago me and my mom found the perfect one BUT they only had 175. So on Saturday Me and my mom folded all of them. By the end my fingers hurt and i a few paper cuts. We have been looking for more paper. We need about 300 invites. We have looked at over 4 different places and NOTHING! It is very frustrating. You would think in craft stores and scrapbook stores there would be the right shade, sadly no.They aren't even close! I think we will try again on Saturday. We are thinking of broadening our horizons and going in to provo! I really hope we find something that will work. I'm getting really sick of looking at every shade of red and saying nope not yet.

But some good news! Me and Phillip have finally picked a date(kinda sorta). We are thinking July 23, 2009. We might have to change when we know more about his leave date. I really hope we can just leave it though. It will be a Thursday. We would have our reception on the 24th which also happens to be pioneer day in Utah(holiday) then we would drive to Wyoming on Saturday and have the reception there. Phillip has decided to wear his army dress uniform. I'm very happy about this! It will look AMAZING in pictures. He looks really great in it too. It is hard to believe that it is only 6 months tell July. It feels like the days are just flying by. I'm very greatful for that. I just want it to hurry up and get here so i can see Phillip and get married to him for forever. We haven't picked a temple yet to get married in. It depends on my parents and there moving plans. They might move to bountiful. It is about 1 hour north of us now. If they do before our wedding, we will get married in the bountiful temple. If not we will get married in the mount timp temple. They are both very beautiful. I really think heavenly father is doing this whole wait and see because he knows i like to have everything planned out. Right know I'm just trying to put my trust in him and know that everything will work out great. ITS REALLY HARD! It is getting easier as time goes by. Anyways i will keep everyone updated on wedding details

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Well its been raining today in Iraq and its freezing outside so I'm just going to sit on my bed and write on this thing. Katherine and I are doing great, shes always trying to plan for the wedding and get the invitations done. I'm not real valuable in this area so i just try to help out when i can. Anyway Iraq has slowed way way down since my first deployment and even since the beginning of this one. When we first showed up here our rules weren't real strict and we always had a lot going on. Right now with the SOFA and everything else going on were just trying to keep the peace and basically have a presence inside the city. So pretty much nothing is going on and its pretty boring around here. I've been working out everyday for a couple hours and having occasional scripture study with my Mormon friend Gibson when i get a chance, and of course i call Katherine all the time cause I miss her a lot. Word for now is that hopefully we will be home in early June and probably back in the states by mid July sometime. Alright so i have been a gunner in my platoon now for like 2 years or something.... anyway i am on my 4th driver now and for some reason every time i get a new one he just seems to be a quitter and i haven't found one that can stay with me for very long. So i got my newest driver (Haun) and man this guy just pushes me to the edge of insanity all the time. He just does all these really annoying little things that drive me up the wall constantly. So i was sitting here thinking about why every time i get a new one he isn't any better then the old one, and i came to realize that this is Gods way of making me a much more patient person so when i have kids i won't lose my mind all the time. And its also probably his way of letting me see sort of first hand how my parents constantly felt with me when i was still at home totally out of control all the time. So I'm done here but i will try to write on here more often.
